THE 2021 VISALIA HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE

Visit Visalia is excited to present our 2021 Visalia Holiday Gift Guide! We will help you shop local and share your love for Visalia this holiday season with our top picks for the best gift giving.

Come experience a nostalgic holiday when you visit Visalia, shop in downtown Visalia and throughout the city.

For national parks and outdoor lovers, foodies, music and arts aficionados, hand crafted items and great gifts for kids, Visalia has the perfect gift suggestion for everyone on your list.

Give the gift of sustainability this holiday. We all love our national parks and forests and know that it is important to be conscientious stewards of these beautiful places. Here are ways to give sustainably this holiday season.

Plan a day to participate in Sequoia Riverlands Trust Stewardship events. Land stewardship is an essential component of their mission in the southern Sierra Nevada and San Joaquin Valley. Join them at Kaweah Oaks Preserve to help maintain and restore to trails or volunteer in the native plant nursery at Dry Creek Preserve. Stewardship days happen on the third weekend of each month. They are FREE but consider a donation to this non-profit.

Lovers of Sequoia National Park will love an Abbott Candle made especially for Sequoia Parks Conservancy. As a park supporter, Abbott has created a candle with a deep and woodsy scent, inspired by the towering forest of Sequoia National Park, with 100% natural soy wax and cruelty-free oils. And the best part is that 15% of all proceeds from Abbott's Sequoia products (they also have fragrances) will be put into SPC's Sequoia Conservancy Fund.

Give a "Visalia" jute fiber bag from Saul's Couture and become part of the Bangladesh Project ensuring the female artisans who craft the bags receive Fair Trade wages. Bags are made with sturdy, vegetable tanned leather handles and waterproof lining.

As a powerhouse of agriculture, Visalia’s food culture is amazing. From the Farmer’s Market to top restaurants, you’ll find the best seasonal goodness. Here are three ways to share that fresh from the farm goodness.

Vintage Press Recipe Club Each month, Chef David Vartanian demonstrates the preparation of lunch and dinner dishes at special Recipe Club events. Guests enjoy an interactive discussion then a delightful meal with wine.

Beer lovers will love a beer-tasting flight at BarrelHouse Brewing Company. Find out what's brewing in our downtown brewery district and plan a weekend getaway that beer lovers will be raising their glass to.

Beer

Create a food basket filled with fresh ingredients and Mediterranean delights, including fresh baked walnut- or pistachio baklava from Pita Kabob Bakery and Deli or ripe-from-the-field goodness from the Visalia Farmer’s Market.

Outdoor recreation is plentiful in and around Visalia. Plan a trip to explore the biggest trees and the deepest canyon. Local Guides can give you an unique experience like snowshoeing, hiking or even stargazing that are once in a lifetime. Really get outdoors with an expert guide to explore the nearby Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks and Forests.

Sequoia Guides offers year-round tours that are customizable. Snowshoeing in the grove of giant sequoias, guided hikes and stargazing in some of the darkest skies in California are just the start of an unforgettable tour.

Whether you are new to fly fishing, Kaweah Fly Fishers can set up a guided fishing trip. They know all the best fishing holes throughout the area, a perfect gift for the angler on your gift list.

Riata Ranch offers guided horseback rides in the Sierra foothills. Explore the beauty of a ride through the foothills of Sequoia National Park through lush deer trails and along the rushing waters of the North Fork of the Kaweah River. Take a sunset trail ride followed by dinner on the ranch.

A national park pass is always the perfect gift. Explore the beauty of the parks and witness the rebirth following the recent fires. Discounted, and free, passes are available for members of the military, veterans, those with a permanent disability, and seniors. Don’t forget that 4th graders are also eligible for a free pass.

Give yourself the gift of the outdoors and invest in hiking boots from Brown’s Shoe Fit on Main Street and explore the miles of trails in and around Visalia.

Tickets to a performance of the Sequoia Symphony Orchestra can be just the right thing for classical music lovers. Or get tickets to their American Icons Festival. The 3 series festival  includes a show at the Cellar Door when they will pay tribute to Carole King and Aretha Franklin.

Arts Visalia’s Holiday show and sale highlights the work of local artists. Visalia has a vibrant and talented arts community of sculptors, painters, photographers and more.

Veloria Records is a classic record shop on Main Street where you can find a huge selection of albums, from every decade and all styles of music. Don’t know what album to get? Choose a Veloria t-shirt to gift instead.

Is it time for a little self-care and stay-cation? Show yourself some love and wrap yourself in some of these cozy gifts.

There are lots of gift items to select from at  Pacific Treasures in downtown but hot this year is the Tinsel and Spice Candle. It truly embodies the spirit of the holidays! Notes of juniper berry, cinnamon and clove with a twist of orange mandarin, vanilla and forest woods makes this a festive fan-favorite.

Supporting local artisans is a sure way to have your gift under the tree. You will find lots of gift ideas at Letter & Grain, locally made necklaces.

Cozy up in front of the fireplace with a stylish and sustainable Happy Habitat Throw blanket from Joshua Tree. Made with 80% recycled cotton and 100% beautiful style.

Calling all 4th Graders! These lucky kiddos are eligible to get a free annual Adventure Pass to 19 CA State Parks, including the nearby Col. Allensworth State Park. 4th Graders also can get a free Annual National Park Pass, good at Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks. Free entry means families can visit as often as they want.

Big kids and little kids can all have fun together at Visalia Adventure Park. Give the gift of time together playing mini-golf, go-kart racing, laser tag and so much more.

A family photo is a holiday tradition and Espy’s Kids has just what you need. We especially love infant romper. They have closing for kids of all sizes and feature designers from all over the world, and some from right here in the Central Valley.

Don't forget the stocking stuffers! These little gems are perfect for everyone on your list.

Mainland Skate & Surf has lots of great gift ideas but we love the Salty Crew Beanie.  How about Climbing Bear socks for your little cub? Sequoia Parks Conservancy has park themed gift items that also help support our local national parks.

Faced with too many choices? Consider a Downtown Visalia gift check which can be redeemed at restaurants and shops throughout downtown. Perfect!

And don’t forget the Visalia Mall. It's local too, providing local jobs and collecting sales tax. But that's not the only reason to shop at the Mall. Check out the special deals being offering this season. One stop and you can get something for everyone on your list.
