Archaeology Month: What Does An Archeologist Really Do

The Tulare County Museum invites the public to celebrate Archaeology

Month with an engaging archaeology and cultural resources management presentation

on Saturday, October 17, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. by Alyssa Newcomb, MS, RPA of

SJV Environmental Consulting.

The program will provide an accessible look at what archaeologists do, how

archaeological sites are studied and protected, and why cultural resources management

plays an important role in preserving the stories and history of the past.

Attendees will learn about the field of archaeology, the kinds of evidence archaeologists

use to understand past peoples and places, and how cultural resources are identified,

documented, evaluated, and protected. The presentation will also offer an opportunity to

learn more about archaeology in the Central Valley and the importance of preserving

cultural resources for future generations.
