VISIT SEQUOIA & KINGS CANYON NATIONAL PARKS
Big Trees
The national parks are open and ready for visitors! There is nothing more patriotic than a trip to our national parks. Walk among the giant sequoias and see the General Sherman Tree, the largest living tree on earth. Climb to the top of Moro Rock for unforgettable views of the Great Western Divide. Take a hike to Tokopah Falls where the cascading falls are gushing as the winter snow melts away. Take a stroll around Crescent Meadow and see the wildflowers bursting with color. Did you know that the General Grant tree in Kings Canyon National Park is a living shrine to the men and women of the armed services? Take time to see this magnificent grove.
PICNIC IN THE PARK
Take a picnic to one of Visalia’s many local parks.
Mooney Grove is the first county park in California and offers lots of Arbors for a picnic. There is lots of wide-open space for a game of tag or frisbee or whatever tradition your family has for the July 4th holiday. Kids will love the play structures, searching for the Log Cabin or feeding the ducks. The lagoon is stocked with fish (license required) and is a great place to teach kids how to cast a line.
PLAY AT LAKE KAWEAH
Head to the Lake for a day of water fun.
Kaweah Lake is a great spot for water activities. Rent a patio boat and spend the day floating, swimming and sunning. Boats are available from the Kaweah Marina for rent but book early as this will be a popular spot.
