TRANSFORMATIVE ROAD TRIP: THE MAJESTIC MOUNTAIN LOOP

EXPERIENCE 3 NATIONAL PARKS IN THREE DAYS

Welcome, Transformative Traveler! You don't just go to a place, you experience it. You live it. You become one with the destination. You get so steeped in the customs of the place, people sometimes mistake you for a local. We like that, and we know you'll like this road trip experience tailored to your specific style.

DAY 1: VISALIA AND BEYOND TO SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK

KidsStart your journey in Visalia, perfectly situation for your epic journey. You'll need some food to start, and a mighty journey calls for a mighty breakfast. Try Valhalla Restaurant. Named after the Viking heaven, the name is appropriate if you're into homemade food crafted from time-honored recipes handed down from generation to generation. This family-owned restaurant is actually on its third generation, so you know they're doing something right.

After eating your fill, make your way to Sequoia National Park. The massive trees are certainly a sight to behold, and spots like the Tunnel Tree and General Sherman Tree are must-sees. But lesser-known are the Crystal Cave. Just as stunning as the giants are above ground, a guided tour of the polished marble structures are a lesser-known experience that far too many people miss out on.

Once you've explored the park, make your way back to Visalia where you can recharge for day 2. No doubt you've worked up quite the appetite. Dickey's Barbecue will satisfy anyone's hunger. While you're right on Mainstreet, it's your perfect chance to experience Authentic Visalia with the Historic Downtown Walking Tour.

DAY 2: KING'S CANYON NATIONAL PARK

King's Canyon National Park may not be as well-known as Sequoia or Yosemite, but the views here are second to none. Stops at the General Grant Tree and Roaring River Falls are almost mandatory. One of the most amazing views you'll ever see comes as a reward for taking the nearly 400 stairs up Moro Rock. Stop to catch your breath only to have it taken away again at the vista. Other beauty lies below ground here as well, as Boyden Cavern tours reward you with otherworldly rock formations.

After making your way through King's Canyon, head up to to Oakhurst, where you'll be at the doorstep to Yosemite National Park.

Yosemite National ParkDAY 3: YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK

Make your way from Oakhurst up to the southern entrance to Yosemite National Park. If you're feeling the need for a spot of time travel before you enter the park, stop at Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad and ride a century-old steam train through the Sierra National Forest. You're only minutes away from the park entrance here, so continue on through the gates. You have a choice, head to the right for the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoia. While you'll want to see iconic spots in the valley like Tunnel View, Bridal Veil Fall, Yosemite Falls and The Ahwahnee. For an authentic experience, visit Wawona Pioneer Village. You'll experience the true history of the park, which has a storied past to the frontier era and beyond.
